I hope you are prepared for a wave of emotions. This wedding is one that was planned in only three months, and was filled with so many people that I want in my every day life. You may remember Angie and Mervin from their Sutro Baths engagement session. If you have not seen it, you should! That being said their wedding has made me cry more times than I probably want to admit to anybody. When they first came to us, their wedding was originally planned for September and they were finalizing their date. They were getting married in the same place that Angie has spent countless hours side by side with her father hiking in the woods that surround the venue, Villa Montalvo. The gorgeous trees provided a serene, shaded escape for her father from the bright and sunny Cupertino. Here they could talk, or just walk together needing nothing else but each other by their side. With all that importance there really is no other place in the world that makes sense to have Angie’s father walk her down the aisle.
You will see that Angie’s best friend sang to her father a Chinese folk song while Angie danced with him. The thing you would never know is that she spent weeks with a vocal coach learning how to sing. What if I told you that the vocal coach only spoke Chinese and and Nisha did not. That is right, she spent endless nights for her best friend learning to sing, and sing in Chinese from someone who could not easily speak to her as neither of them spoke the same language. If this is not love for your best friend, I honestly do not know what is. I have loved getting to know this, and so much more about Angie and Mervin. I know what makes them smile, laugh, and cry. I know why their friends love them. I know why their families hold them close. Angie and Mervin are not long lost friends, or friends of friends I have known in passing, but two people who came into our lives one day over a call on Skype. They are two people who were willing to trust Lisa and I with their bare open hearts. They trusted us with their love and passion for each other, their calm desire to be with their family forever, and trusted us with their abundance of friends who all wore their hearts on their sleeves for both Angie and Mervin. There are standing ovations for Mervin’s father Jack and his amazing speech and possibly tears of joy from so many others moments ahead for you to see below. It is in these photos I too have lost my calm and let go tears of joy and happiness.
I can not be more thankful to type this as those tears still roll down my cheek. I am honored we had the opportunity to tell this story. It is when people trust us with their love and hearts that photographs become more then just dots tying our memories together. One photo can become true portals into rich moments we can relive for the rest of our lives. Thank you for sharing your hearts with us Angie and Mervin, we can not wait to share even more photographs with you from your beautiful wedding at Villa Montalvo!
I run into these guys running off to get an undershirt because Mervin forgot it at home in all the craziness. It is easy to forget such a simple thing when there are so many amazing things going on around you. It also showed me from the moment Lisa and I saw Mervin and Angie that their friends are going to be a lot of fun!
