Today we are pleased to share what was our very first wedding of 2012! We actually photographed this wedding a few days before we left on our Southeast Asia adventure, but I’m so glad it all worked out and we were able to be a part of it because Nathan and Katie are such a sweet couple with a ton of love for each other. The wedding was simple and sweet, very fitting for this down to earth couple. The ceremony was at the Eastern Orthodox Church and was such a cool experience for us. All of the speaking was through song , in addition to the actual amazing singers. We loved all the tradition and ritual.
After the ceremony, we went to the beautiful State Capitol for some portraits of the happy newlyweds.
After a quick photo session at the Capitol, we met back up with the bridal party in Old Sacramento.
The winter sunset was so lovely.
They held a reception for friends and family at The Firehouse. Nathan’s dad came in from out of town to bake their wedding cake in Nathan’s tiny apartment. Such a sweet contribution to the celebration!
Nathan lookin’ good getting a drink!
Congratulations Nathan and Katie! We loved getting to celebrate with you and capture your intimate wedding day. We wish you many years of happiness together!
You’ve never met a classier couple than the wonderful Alex and Catherine. They make such a great pair, it is so easy to see that they belong together. Their wedding was a fabulous day filled with family from Italy and Switzerland along with all of their local family and friends. We had a fantastic time! I met up with Catherine and her girls as they got ready at the Citizen Hotel in downtown Sacramento.
Catherine wore her Grandmother’s necklace and carried her Grandmother’s clutch. She even had a piece of her Grandmother’s wedding dress sewn into the inside of her (gorgeous, I might add) gown. I love all the little things she did to incorporate family into the day.
Catherine looked 100% amazing. Of course it helps that she is drop-dead gorgeous even before you add in the beautiful gown, hair and accessories. Catherine, you are simply stunning.
While I was with the ladies, Geoff was at Alex and Catherine’s house which was filled with friends an family as they got themselves ready for the day.
Some exciting stuff was happening at the world cup.
The adorable church the ceremony was held was located in Land Park. How awesome is it that the priest that married Alex and Catherine also married Catherine’s parents? Love that.
The happy couple planned an extra long cocktail hour which included a stop to the Shady Lady, one of Alex and Catherine’s favorite Sacramento bars. You may remember us going there for their engagement session! It was so much fun taking photos of them in the photo booth again!
After that, we headed to Old Sacramento and took some photos of the newlyweds near where the reception was being held.
The reception was at The Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento. Some of the details at the reception were just fantastic! I loved the use of buttons to hold all of the escort cards (plus the lovely calligraphy!). Plus they had some very classic and sophisticated looking design going on with their menus and table cards. So very cute.
The Firehouse did NOT disappoint with the meal service. Everything looked and tasted delicious!
In lieu of a wedding cake, and a nod to Catherine’s Italian heritage, they had a Gelato Bar for dessert. As much as I love cake, I’ll take some of the Stracciatella gelato any day!
The gelato was enjoyed by everyone — the young and young at heart!
During the parent dances, family members sang along to the music. I remember not being able to stop smiling! It’s hard not to smile when every is SO happy and having a wonderful time.
Congratulations Alex and Catherine! We loved getting to meet all of your amazing loved ones, and experience your wedding day with you. You are two of the loveliest people we know. Thank you for choosing Geoff and I to capture this amazing day. May your lives be filled with many more amazing days together!
