Hello, Lisa here! I could not BE more excited to finally get to share all the goodness below. a couple of months ago, I was asked to participate in a wedding showcase of sorts, called FRESHbash. It was to be a competion where I would be working with three other wedding vendors: Roots Reclaimed (event design), Seascape Flowers (floral design), and Enchanté Macarons (desserts) to push the creative envelope and come up with some insanely awesome wedding loveliness. We ALL have been working so hard over the past several weeks to get ready for this event and I am so proud of how well everything came together. Before we get to that, I first wanted to share my main contribution to the event, these super rad, glitter and gold foil, laser cut wood wedding invitations. FRESHbash was a wonderful opportunity to try some techniques I have never done before and really push the limits of what wedding stationery can be. Below you can see the full invitation suite.

The focal point of this suite is the laser cut wood centepieces. The geometric stripes were designed to match the arbor backdrop, which you will get to see in a minute. They are cut from a beautiful walnut wood and stained the most perfect warm color.

When turned to the opposite side, you can see how everything was contained using a rippled sparkly purple belly band.

When the guest removes the belly bend, they get an awesome surprise! Weddings are all about love right? I created the wood piece so that it could be something the guest could keep in their home after the wedding as a beautiful piece of art. Can’t you just imagine how beautiful it would look leaned against a mantle? Swoon.

I could not be more in love with this walnut.

The invitation itself involves some modern techniques and a little bit of humor. 🙂 You would laugh so hard if you saw how I created that black floral background using some silk flowers, my scanner and a piece of black construction paper. The couple’s names were typeset and all other cursive writing was hand lettered in brush calligraphy by me.

The best part of it all is that all of the text is in GOLD FOIL. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love gold foil. It looks so beautiful and these photos do not even begin to do it justice. This whole suite just begs to be touched.

I am ALWAYS down for a couple that does not take themselves too seriously. Sometimes a touch of crass humor is just the right thing.

A simple map that orients your wedding guests with the area can be such a great idea. This hand-drawn map was printed entirely in gold foil.

I love to incorporate fun little interactive details into invitations, especially the RSVPs. Whether that is a fun mad lib, or a space for guests to draw you a doodle, like below.

I hand addressed the outer envelopes and added a touch of gold paint for good measure. Bright ochre envelope liners feature the simple chevron motif that can be found throughout the suite.

Here is our booth. Isn’t it lovely? I was SO impressed with Roots Reclaimed and their gorgeous rentals and styling. Nicole and Beth are bosses of the industry.  They built this amazing arbor! You can see where the geometric lines on the invitation came from.

Roots Reclaimed also built this rad podium to showcase my design suite.

This is how it was displayed at FRESHbash. Under a layer of glass was a ton of beautiful different types of moss. Crystals, geodes, and florals decorated the top.

Here you can really see how awesome the gold foil looked.

I also designed and built our team sign! Geoff laser cut out all of those gold words and names and I built all of those tiny boxes to hold our team members’ business cards.

I designed a set of really cool crystal/geode inspired escort cards made of acrylic.

I also made little signs for all the desserts made by Enchanté Macarons. Would you believe that the signs and escort cards started their lives out as these? I might have to do a tutorial on how I made them. It is surprisingly easy!

The booth was beautiful. All I wanted to do was magically transport this entire setup to my backyard.

Check out these amazing florals by Darcy of Seascape Flowers. I still can’t get over them. Airplants and poppies are my fav.

I have to give a should out to Baker’s Donuts. I have been going there since I was a kid and I was so happy that they were there at FRESHbash. GO TODAY and get a cronut or an ice-cream stuffed donut.

If you missed FRESHbash this year, I do feel a little sorry for you, I’ll admit. You missed a killer party with so many rad vendors, pretty things to see, yummy food to eat, tasty cocktails to drink, and space to dance, dance, dance. Don’t miss it next year! I absolutely loved getting to be a part of it and challenge myself creatively and form close bonds with some amazing, talented people.
