Since the rain is falling today and it is Halloween I wanted to get one last blog post up this month! We went to Placerville to finally get to meet Nial and Christina in person. It is fun when you have tons of great emails, phone calls, and even Skype meeting with couples but it is always more amazing when you finally get to meet someone in person. It is almost cheating because we were lucky enough to get to meet Christina at Justin and Shannon’s wedding but we didn’t have a chance to get to know her until her perfect engagement this fall! We met in downtown Placerville where Nial is from. You would never guess that a small town in the hills would be full of so much fun and color. After walking around there we headed to Boeger Winery for a picnic and walk around the vineyards. It was a perfect fall evening for a Placerville Engagement session!
We actually teased about this being the perfect linkedin photo for Nial!
I honestly do not know where to start with Tyler and Carolyn and their Mission Ranch Wedding in Carmel, CA. From the first moment these two stepped through our doors we knew these two were people that understood us and our love of design, color, and life! I found out a year later after meeting them that our design esthetic is extremely close. Seeing their house was beyond fun because of the combination of mid century modern and modern was scarily similar to our own! Be prepared for another post just on the design we created for these two. It will contain their gorgeous pug, and endless unique touches you do not see every day when it comes to paper goods!
Ok so back to Tyler and Carolyn and our delight for these two. We were sold when they described their dream wedding, sheep grazing in an open field, the perfect October sunset, the possibility of a Clint Eastwood cameo appearance, and more love to go around then you could ever imagine. I can promise you they delivered. They may have even delivered on the cameo but there are no photos to prove or disprove this statement. They chose to not have a bridal party but instead keep their closest friends and family with them and just hangout and relax. I will let you in on a secret, Carolyn was pretty relaxed. Tyler got a little nervous, and had to hit the gym up for a quick bike ride to get his mind off of being alone in the room before his friends got there. I snuck over when I found that out and was able to get one quick photo of him, and could not have been more honored to be there and chat with a now friend before his wedding day. They not only opened up their hearts to us but allowed us to capture who they really were as a couple. It was ok that Tyler was nervous, to me when a man is a little nervous on his wedding day it shows he cares. He may not cry, he may not show emotion in a million other ways other then that little bit of nervousness and that is ok. It shows that we as men are real, caring human beings, excited, and maybe a bit nervous because we are choosing the perfectly imperfect match to marry. Yes I said perfectly imperfect, but that is a whole different discussion about love and marriage.
Please stick around a see the love, family, friends, and fun that Tyler and Carolyn had together in Carmel on their wedding day. I will never forget how beautiful it was for them at Mission Ranch for their wedding!
The first thing that came up when we talked to Nick and Heidi was their sense of adventure and wanting to be surrounded by the beauty of a redwood grove at their engagement session. They also love having SF close by which is what makes Muir Woods and Muir Beach Overlook the perfect place for their engagement session. We started nestled amongst the trees in the giant redwood grove. Muir Woods is a place that so many people seriously love. In fact we could not believe how many people were there on a weekday afternoon to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. After we had a stroll around we headed over to Muir Beach Overlook. Now, about two hours before we were there with Heidi an Nick, the Muir Beach Overlook was covered in fog. The sun, however, decided to grace us with his warm glow and made for some of the most stunning engagement photos for Heidi and Nick. I could not believe what was filled with fog opened up to be this spectacular view of rolling clouds, and me wishing the Farallon Islands were visible in the distance. Heidi and Nick were able to have a few quiet moments to soak in the beauty that California has to offer. Thank you again for giving this little glimpse into your lives together, Heidi and Nick. We are very thankful the opportunity to see how you make each other laugh and smile! We had a great time experiencing Muir Woods and the Muir Beach Overlook with you!
Chris and Marissa were married on a beautiful, somewhat rainy September day at the Miners Foundry in Nevada City. I can not and will not tell you a lie…Seeing a grown man cry the first time he sees his almost wife on their wedding day is an amazing thing. Getting to see a man in one of the most vulnerable positions he allows himself to be in is not seen by most people in their lives. It is saved normally for those few people in your life that you trust with all your heart. You have to realize that when peering through my camera lens I become invisible for just those few moments. Chris quickly forgets we are there as Marissa walks up behind him and a feeling only he could describe overcame him. Make sure to scroll through these images and see how much he truly loves Marissa. It is moments like this that continue to fill my own heart and soul each week. This is why we love seeing so many couples marry each year. I am told, reminded, and shown how amazing an individuals heart is to the one person in the world they love the most. I will never forget what it was like for me as that young man in an apple orchard hearing my almost wife walk up behind me, as I allowed a tear to gently roll down my cheek. It is a vivid memory I am constantly reminded about and thankful that I have that memory, and see the same in many of our couples on their wedding day. I honestly feel that it is such a good thing that some men allow themselves to wear their heart on their sleeve. That they allow the emotion they feel to get the better of them sometimes. Thank you so much Chris and Marissa for showing us how you love each other. It was a perfect, slightly rainy day in Nevada City and you made the Miners Foundry the perfect place for you to get married!
Yep that is rain coming…Good luck on your wedding day is what it means!
Ted and Chelsea are getting married! I just have to say how could you not fall for these two. Ted is this fun boisterous man who was able to win the heart of the sweet, easy going Chelsea. They both live downtown with their cute cats, their dog all in their adorable bungalow. We are a sucker for meeting a couple at their house and jumped on the chance to start their engagement session in downtown Sacramento. We headed to the park to walk the dog and finished with a perfect sunset overlooking the river. What couple doesn’t enjoy getting dressed up and having a fun date out? I know we do! Thank you for showing us why Sacramento is such a special place to you two! Your Old Sacramento engagement session was perfect!
Sean and Kelly love Lake Tahoe as it is there getaway place from the everyday life, down in the valley. Luckily enough Sean’s parents have a cabin in Truckee to enable the easy escape! Our original plan was to meet at Donner Lake and enjoy the scenery there. It happened we all chose the one day when it decided to finally rain in California. If you did not know, California is in a really nasty drought. Lisa and I sat in our car an hour early just hoping the rain was going to stop. It just kept falling from the skies swirling over us with no relent. Thankfully I happen to know the area very well. As we were driving in we made our plans for come cool spots to take photos overlooking the lake. I also knew I had to be coming up with a backup plan because what really mattered to these two was being in the outdoors, and being there together. Since the rain never stopped we drove up the road to a couple of my hidden gem locations! We had breathtaking views of the Sierra Mountains along with beautiful high alpine fields to run around in. I was so happy we turned a rainy day into one filled with sunshine and beauty! Thank you so much for trusting us to take care of you two. We had a lot of fun getting to know you and have your engagement session in Lake Tahoe!
