We are so happy for Dave and Allissa, who were married last weekend in The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament followed by an amazing reception at The Sacramento Grand Ballroom. Geoff and I photographed all of the love and festivities and we could not have had a better time. There were so many wonderful things about this wedding, and I cannot wait to share more! Congratulations Dave and Allissa, you looked amazing!!
I love this one from their first dance! So much happiness. 🙂
I have a LOT to share today as I got a bit behind on my teasers! Geoff and I have been on vacation for almost a week, celebrating our upcoming second anniversary! Today we have a very special themed anniversary photo shoot planned and we are BEYOND excited. 🙂 We can’t wait to share more about that! Okay, on to some amazing weddings Geoff and I have shot recently!
First, we had the sincere pleasure of getting to photograph Rachel and Jeremy’s wedding at The Firehouse in downtown Sacramento. I couldn’t love these two more. They are sooooo sweet! They had an intimate wedding that was simple and full of lots of love. What more could you ask for? We had a lot of fun shooting their portraits in Old Sac.
Doesn’t Rachel look like pure joy?!
The next weekend was the wedding of the super cute Ben and Erin. They had a fun ceremony at Whitney Oaks Country Club in Roseville, complete with a choreographed dance down the aisle, and LOTS of Red Sox references. That was followed by a reception with adorable details galore! Can’t wait to share more photos of that. In between we toured around the golf course and got some lovely portraits of the newlyweds.
The very next we felt honored to photograph the wedding of a dear friend of mine, Marissa, and her now-husband, Adam. Their wedding was at The River Mill in French Camp which is, oh my gosh, one of the loveliest gardens you’ve ever seen. I’m so happy for them!
Well, that’s it for today! Geoff and I have a few more days off until we shoot Dave and Allissa’s wedding on Saturday! We’ll definitely share some photos of our travels and of course, our much anticipated anniversary shoot tonight! Have a great week!
About 4 years ago, Geoff and I started a journey. It all began with a friend asking If I’d be willing to photograph her wedding the following year. Geoff and I had photographed a few of my family’s weddings and with those under our belt, combined with our years of photography experience, we were up for the challenge. We set up shop (so to speak), built a website, got the contracts and all the business stuff together. When 2008 ended, on the eve of the new year, Geoff and I set a goal to book 5 weddings in 2009. “5 weddings,” we thought. “How are we ever going to find 5 people to let us shoot their wedding!?” Well, you have to start somewhere!
What happened next, was so amazing, unexpected, thrilling, and most of all, life-changing. The inquiries started coming in. Not from friends or family, but complete strangers that found us and recognized something in our passion, and in our love of people and photography. We booked 17 weddings that year. 17! We could not believe it! It was a crazy year of meeting so many amazing couples, working REALLY hard to be better and better, and most of all, a year for us to realize what we were meant to do in life. In 2010 we photographed 29 weddings and 2011 we’ll finish out at nearly 40.
While The Goodness was growing and growing, Geoff and I had been working our 40 hour a week day-jobs for Apple, Inc. As you can imagine, we were working literally constantly everyday, and sacrificed so much of our social life, free time, family time, etc. to keep up the level of quality and customer service that our growing client base had grown to expect. It was the most rewarding thing in the world, and while we loved every minute of it, it was EXHAUSTING!
Today I am beyond overjoyed to tell you all, my wonderful and loyal readers and clients, that we quit our days jobs. It’s a scary step, leaving the security of a corporate job, but we couldn’t be happier to be focusing all of our time and effort toward something that we love and that we believe in with all our hearts. For us, “The Goodness” truly lives up to it’s name, as that is exactly what it has brought into our lives. Everyday we still cannot believe that we are living this amazingly incredible life, but we are. And for that, we want to thank each and every one of you: our wonderful clients, our blog readers, our supportive friends and family, it’s because of you that our lives are so fortunate and so full of love and goodness.
Here’s a photo from Paul and Lesley’s Shot Spot a couple weeks ago. This pretty sums up how we are feeling right now:
Never have you met a sweeter couple than Chris and Danielle. Their intimate wedding last weekend was perfectly “them”. What a relaxed day filled with lots of love, family, and excitement! We felt so happy to have been there to witness and capture it all. Congratulations to the happy couple!
I am so happy for Paul and Lesley! Lesley is a good friend from my sorority days and Geoff and I had the pleasure of photographing their Lake Tahoe wedding just over a week ago! It’s hard not to love these two, they are both so awesomely easygoing! It was pretty amazing the way their family came together to throw one heck of a wedding too! Congrats Paul and Lesley! Enjoy these little teasers!
